API Response Formatter
Format and beautify JSON API responses.
Want this automated for your stack?
We build CI/CD, Kubernetes & IaC pipelines that scale.
Make a wall of JSON readable
An API response arrives as one long line of JSON with no spacing, which is efficient to transmit and impossible to read. This formatter beautifies JSON, adding the indentation and line breaks that reveal the structure, so you can actually see what the response contains.
Why formatting is the first debugging step
When an API is not behaving, the first thing you need is to read its response, and minified JSON hides the very structure you are trying to inspect. Formatting reveals the nesting, makes it obvious which fields are present and which are missing, and surfaces the one deeply-buried value you are looking for. It also validates as it formats: JSON that will not format is malformed, which is itself a useful finding.
A local pretty-printer
Because the response may contain data you would rather not paste into a random website, formatting it in your browser keeps it on your machine. Paste the response, read the structure, and copy the formatted version if you need it for a bug report. Nothing is uploaded.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is API JSON so hard to read?
Because it is usually minified, sent as one long line with no spacing, which is efficient to transmit but hides the structure you need to inspect.
Does formatting validate the JSON?
Yes, implicitly. JSON that will not format is malformed, so a formatting failure tells you the response itself is broken, which is a useful finding.
Why format locally?
Because an API response can contain data you would rather not paste into an external site. Formatting in your browser keeps it on your machine.
What does beautifying add?
Indentation and line breaks that reveal the nesting, making it clear which fields are present, which are missing, and where a buried value sits.
Is my data uploaded?
No. The formatting runs entirely in your browser.
