Generate a PersistentVolumeClaim

A PersistentVolumeClaim, or PVC, is how a pod requests durable storage in Kubernetes. This generator produces a PVC manifest from the claim name, the amount of storage requested, the access mode and the storage class. The access mode determines how the volume can be mounted, ReadWriteOnce for a single node, ReadOnlyMany for many readers, or ReadWriteMany for shared read-write access, while the storage class selects which kind of underlying storage to provision.

The claim requests storage, and Kubernetes binds it to a matching persistent volume, often provisioned dynamically.

Durable storage for pods

Container filesystems are ephemeral, so any data that must survive pod restarts needs a persistent volume. A PVC lets your application ask for storage declaratively without knowing the details of the underlying infrastructure, which the storage class handles. Choosing the right access mode is important, since not all storage backends support shared read-write access across nodes.

Mount the claim into a pod through a volume to give the container durable storage. Review the manifest and ensure the storage class exists in your cluster. All generation happens locally in your browser.

Notes on the output

Because the kubernetes pvc generator runs entirely in your browser, you can adjust every option and see the generated output update instantly, with nothing uploaded and no sign-up needed. The result is clean, standard configuration you can paste straight into your project and refine by hand, and because the processing is local, even sensitive values stay private on your own machine.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a PVC?

A PersistentVolumeClaim is a pod\'s request for durable storage, which Kubernetes binds to a matching persistent volume.

What do the access modes mean?

ReadWriteOnce allows one node to mount read-write, ReadOnlyMany allows many read-only mounts, and ReadWriteMany allows shared read-write across nodes.

What is a storage class?

It defines the type of storage to provision, such as SSD or network storage, and enables dynamic provisioning of volumes.

How do I use the claim in a pod?

Reference the PVC name in a volume on the pod or deployment and mount that volume into the container at the desired path.
