Generate a Kubernetes Ingress
An Ingress manages external HTTP and HTTPS access to services in a cluster, routing requests to different backends based on the host and URL path. This generator produces an Ingress manifest from the host name, the path, the backend service and its port, with an option to enable TLS. It uses the current networking API version and includes a common rewrite annotation, giving you a working starting point for exposing a service to the web.
With TLS enabled, it references a secret that holds the certificate, which is the standard pattern.
Routing traffic into the cluster
Rather than giving every service its own external load balancer, an Ingress lets a single entry point route traffic to many services based on rules, which is more efficient and flexible. An Ingress controller, such as the NGINX ingress controller, must be installed in the cluster to act on these rules. Host-based and path-based routing make it easy to serve multiple applications or APIs from one domain.
Adjust the annotations to match your ingress controller, and provide a TLS secret if you enable HTTPS. Review the manifest and apply it. All generation happens locally in your browser.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does an Ingress do?
It routes external HTTP and HTTPS traffic to services based on host and path rules, acting as a single smart entry point to the cluster.
Do I need an ingress controller?
Yes. An Ingress resource only defines rules; an ingress controller such as NGINX must be installed to actually route the traffic.
How do I enable HTTPS?
Turn on TLS, which adds a tls section referencing a secret that contains the certificate and key for the host.
What is pathType Prefix?
It matches the path and everything beneath it, so a prefix of slash matches the whole site, which is the common default.
Privacy & Security
