Reformat MAC addresses in any notation
A MAC address is a 48-bit hardware identifier made of twelve hexadecimal digits, but different systems write it in different ways. Windows and many tools use hyphens, Unix and web interfaces use colons, Cisco equipment uses three groups separated by dots, and some contexts use no separators at all. This formatter accepts a MAC address in any of these styles, strips out whatever separators and spaces it contains, and re-emits it in the format and letter case you choose.
It also shows every common format at once, so you can copy whichever one your current task needs without converting by hand.
Why MAC formatting matters
Pasting a MAC address into a system that expects a particular separator is a common source of errors. Network administrators moving addresses between a switch, a firewall and a spreadsheet often need to switch notation, and automation scripts usually require one exact form. Normalising the format avoids rejected entries and mismatched comparisons.
The tool validates that the input contains exactly twelve hexadecimal digits, so malformed addresses are caught immediately. All conversion happens locally in your browser, so hardware identifiers are never uploaded.

Frequently Asked Questions
What MAC formats does it support?
Colon, hyphen, Cisco three-group dotted, and bare with no separators, in either upper or lower case. It accepts any of these as input too.
Does the input format matter?
No. The tool removes all separators and spaces first, so you can paste a MAC address in any notation and convert it to the one you need.
What is the Cisco dotted format?
Cisco devices write a MAC as three groups of four hex digits separated by dots, such as 001a.2b3c.4d5e, rather than six groups of two.
Why does it reject my address?
A valid MAC address has exactly twelve hexadecimal digits. If the cleaned input has a different count, the tool reports how many digits it found.
Is my MAC address uploaded?
No. Formatting is done entirely in your browser, so the address never leaves your device.
