Generate addresses for testing and examples
Building test data, writing tutorials or seeding a database often needs IP addresses that look real without being anyone’s. This generator produces random IPv4 or IPv6 addresses on demand, as many as you need, so you have plausible sample addresses without inventing them by hand or accidentally using a real one.
Public ranges, or documentation-safe ones
Not every random address is safe to put in an example. Some ranges are reserved for private networks, documentation or special use, and an address you invent might belong to a real network. The option to restrict IPv4 output to public ranges gives you addresses suitable when you specifically want routable-looking examples, while the general mode is fine for filling fields where the exact range does not matter.
A small tool that prevents a real mistake
Hard-coding a real IP into a test or a tutorial is a genuine hazard: it can send test traffic somewhere real or expose a real host in published documentation. Generating throwaway addresses avoids that entirely. The generation runs in your browser, and each address is produced locally with no lookups.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can it generate both IPv4 and IPv6?
Yes. Choose the type and how many addresses you need, and it produces random addresses of that kind on demand.
What does the public-ranges option do?
It restricts IPv4 output to publicly routable ranges, avoiding addresses reserved for private, documentation or special use when you want realistic examples.
Why not just make up an IP address?
Because an invented address might belong to a real network, which can misdirect test traffic or expose a real host in published examples. Generated throwaway addresses avoid that.
How many can I generate at once?
As many as you need; the count is adjustable so you can produce a whole set of sample addresses in one go.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The generation runs entirely in your browser with no external lookups.
