Calculate swap slippage

Slippage is the difference between the price you expect for a swap and the price you actually get, caused by the market moving or liquidity changing between quoting and execution. Decentralised exchanges let you set a slippage tolerance, and the trade will revert if the price moves beyond it. This calculator shows the minimum amount you would receive when buying, and the maximum you would spend when selling, for a given expected amount and tolerance, so you understand the worst-case outcome before confirming.

A tolerance of half a percent on an expected 1000 tokens, for example, guarantees you receive at least 995 when buying.

Setting slippage wisely

Choosing the right slippage tolerance is a balance. Too low, and trades fail in volatile or low-liquidity markets, wasting gas. Too high, and you expose yourself to a worse price or, in extreme cases, to sandwich attacks where bots exploit a wide tolerance. For deep, stable pairs a low tolerance works, while thin or volatile tokens may need more headroom.

Always check the minimum received before confirming a swap, as it is the protection the tolerance provides. All calculation happens locally in your browser.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is slippage?

It is the difference between the expected and actual price of a trade, caused by price movement or liquidity changes during execution.

What is slippage tolerance?

It is the maximum price movement you accept. If the price moves beyond it, the trade reverts instead of executing at a worse rate.

How do I choose a tolerance?

Use a low tolerance for deep, stable pairs and a higher one for volatile or thin tokens, balancing failed trades against worse prices.

Why can high slippage be risky?

A wide tolerance can let you receive a much worse price and exposes you to sandwich attacks where bots profit from your trade.
