Calculate your break-even price

Trading fees mean you need the price to rise above your entry just to break even. This calculator works out the exit price at which a trade exactly covers the fees paid on both the buy and the sell, leaving you with no profit and no loss. It accounts for the buy fee adding to your cost and the sell fee reducing your proceeds, so the break-even price is the entry price times one plus the buy fee, divided by one minus the sell fee.

Any exit above the break-even price is a real profit, while below it you lose money despite the price being above your entry.

Fees eat into small moves

Fee drag matters most for active traders and for small price movements, where round-trip fees can consume the entire gain. Knowing the break-even price before entering a trade sets a clear minimum target and prevents the illusion of profit that comes from looking only at the entry price. Higher fees push the break-even further above your entry.

Some venues also charge different maker and taker fees, so use the rates that apply to your orders. All calculation happens locally in your browser.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the break-even price?

It is the exit price at which a trade exactly covers the fees on both the buy and the sell, resulting in no profit and no loss.

How is it calculated?

It is the entry price times one plus the buy fee, divided by one minus the sell fee, which accounts for both fees reducing your net result.

Why is break-even above my entry price?

Because fees cost money, the price must rise enough above your entry to cover the round-trip fees before you make any profit.

Why does this matter for small trades?

On small price moves, round-trip fees can consume the whole gain, so knowing the break-even prevents trading at an unprofitable target.
