Encode and decode Base58
Base58 encodes binary data using an alphabet that deliberately omits easily-confused characters, and this tool encodes text to Base58 and decodes Base58 back to text, using the standard Bitcoin alphabet. It handles the conversion in both directions so you can produce a Base58 value or read one you have been given.
Why Base58 exists
Base58 was designed for use in cryptocurrency addresses, and its alphabet deliberately leaves out characters that look alike, the digit zero and capital O, the digit one and lowercase L, so that an address is far less likely to be mistyped or misread when copied. It also omits a few characters that cause problems in some contexts such as URLs. This careful choice makes Base58 particularly well-suited to values that people copy, read aloud and occasionally type by hand, like wallet addresses and keys, where a single transcription error could send funds to the wrong place.
