Look up any HTTP status code
HTTP status codes signal the outcome of a request, and remembering what each means is impractical. This searchable reference covers the codes from 1xx to 5xx, colour-coded by class, so you can find and understand any status code quickly.
Why the classes matter
Status codes are organised into ranges that tell you the nature of the response at a glance: 2xx means success, 3xx redirection, 4xx a client error (something wrong with the request), and 5xx a server error. Knowing the class immediately narrows down whose problem it is, before you even read the specific code. The specific codes then add detail, a 404 is a missing resource, a 401 needs authentication, a 429 is rate limiting. Having them searchable and colour-coded turns a status code from a mystery into an immediate diagnosis.
Diagnose at a glance
It runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you paste is uploaded and the result is yours to copy straight into a project. Because it works client-side, you can use it on private code and data without anything leaving your machine.

Frequently Asked Questions
What do the status code classes mean?
2xx is success, 3xx redirection, 4xx a client error (the request was wrong), and 5xx a server error. The class tells you the nature of the problem at a glance.
What is the difference between 4xx and 5xx?
A 4xx code means something is wrong with the request (the client’s side); a 5xx means the server failed to handle a valid request. This narrows where the problem is.
What does a 429 mean?
Too Many Requests: the client has been rate-limited. The reference explains this and every other code with its meaning.
Is it searchable?
Yes. You can search by code or meaning, and the codes are colour-coded by class for quick scanning.
Do I need an internet connection?
No. The reference runs entirely in your browser.
