Parse a raw HTTP request

This tool breaks a raw HTTP request into its component parts so you can read it clearly. It parses the request line to extract the method, the target path and the HTTP version, splits any query string into individual decoded parameters, lists every header as a name and value, and shows the request body when one is present. The parser follows the structure of the HTTP message format, where the request line comes first, headers follow one per line, and a blank line separates the headers from the body.

Query parameters are URL-decoded, so percent-encoded values and plus-encoded spaces are shown as readable text.

Debugging HTTP

Developers often capture raw HTTP requests from logs, proxies, browser developer tools or curl, and need to understand exactly what was sent. Pasting the raw text here turns a dense block into a labelled breakdown, making it easy to spot a wrong method, a missing header, an unexpected query parameter or a malformed body. It is also a useful teaching aid for learning how HTTP messages are structured.

The parser works on the request as plain text, so it does not make any network calls and nothing is sent anywhere. All parsing happens locally in your browser.

Frequently Asked Questions

What parts of the request does it show?

The method, path, HTTP version, decoded query parameters, every header as a name and value, and the request body if one is present.

Are query parameters decoded?

Yes. Percent-encoded characters and plus-encoded spaces in the query string are decoded so the parameter values are readable.

How does it separate headers from the body?

It follows the HTTP format, where a blank line marks the end of the headers, so everything after it is treated as the request body.

Does it send the request anywhere?

No. The tool only parses the text you paste. It makes no network calls, so nothing is transmitted.

Can it parse responses too?

It is designed for requests. A response has a status line instead of a request line, so the first-line breakdown would differ, though headers parse similarly.
