Generate a memorable password

Strong passwords are hard to remember, and memorable passwords are often weak, but combining several random words solves both problems. This generator builds a password from random words joined by a separator, optionally capitalised and ending with a number and symbol. A passphrase like River-Tiger-Cloud is long, easy to picture and remember, yet strong because its length makes it hard to crack. You choose how many words to use and which extras to add.

The words are selected using the browser secure random generator where available, so the combination is genuinely unpredictable.

Why word-based passwords work

Password strength comes mainly from length and unpredictability, and a handful of random common words provides plenty of both while remaining easy for a human to recall. This approach, popularised by the idea that four random words beat a short complex string, resists both guessing and brute-force attacks far better than a short password full of substitutions. Adding a number and symbol satisfies composition rules many sites still impose.

Use a unique password for every account and store them in a password manager. These are generated locally and never transmitted, so they stay private. All generation happens locally in your browser.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are word-based passwords strong?

Their strength comes from length and randomness. A few random words create a long, unpredictable password that resists guessing and brute force.

Are these easier to remember?

Yes. Memorable words joined together are far easier to recall than a short random string, while still being strong because of their length.

Should I add numbers and symbols?

They help satisfy sites that require them and add a little strength, but the main security comes from using enough random words.

Are the passwords sent anywhere?

No. They are generated locally in your browser and never transmitted. Still, use a unique one per account and a password manager to store them.
