Calculate password expiry
Many organisations enforce a maximum password age, requiring users to change their password after a set number of days. This calculator works out the expiry date from the date a password was last changed and the policy maximum age, and shows how many days remain, flagging passwords that are expired or expiring soon based on a warning threshold you set. A password changed ninety days ago under a ninety-day policy is due for renewal today.
It is a simple way for administrators and users to track where a password stands against the policy.
Password aging policies
Forcing periodic password changes was long standard practice, though modern guidance from several security bodies now favours changing passwords only when there is evidence of compromise, because frequent forced changes often lead to weaker, predictable passwords. Where a maximum age policy is still in force, tracking expiry helps users renew in good time and avoid being locked out, and helps administrators plan reminders.
Use the warning threshold to match the reminder lead time your policy uses. This tool works from the dates you enter and makes no account changes. All calculation happens locally in your browser.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is the expiry date calculated?
It adds the policy maximum age in days to the date the password was last changed, giving the date by which it must be renewed.
What does the warning threshold do?
If the days remaining fall at or below the threshold, the status shows as expiring soon, prompting a change before it lapses.
Are password expiry policies recommended?
Modern guidance often advises changing passwords only on evidence of compromise rather than on a fixed schedule, as forced changes can weaken passwords.
Does this tool change any account?
No. It only calculates dates from the values you enter and makes no changes to any system or account.
