What the classic formulas suggest for your height
Several established formulas estimate an ideal body weight from height and sex, and they do not all agree. This calculator computes the Devine, Robinson, Miller and other formulas together, so you see a range rather than a single figure and understand that ideal weight is an estimate, not a fixed target.
Why there are several formulas
These formulas were developed at different times for different purposes, originally for medication dosing rather than as beauty or fitness targets, which is why they differ by a few kilograms. Seeing them side by side is more honest than picking one: the spread between them is itself the message, that ideal weight is a rough band, not a precise number, and that healthy weight varies with build, muscle and individual factors the formulas cannot capture.
A guide, framed honestly
These are estimates from a standard formula for general information, not medical advice. Individual health depends on far more than any single number, so treat the result as a rough guide and consult a professional for anything that matters. The calculation runs entirely in your browser, so your figures are not uploaded.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why show several formulas?
Because the Devine, Robinson, Miller and other formulas were developed separately and give slightly different figures. Seeing the range is more honest than presenting one number as definitive.
What were these formulas originally for?
Mostly for calculating medication doses based on body size, not as fitness or appearance targets, which is worth remembering when interpreting them.
Is there one correct ideal weight?
No. The formulas give a rough band, and healthy weight varies with build, muscle and individual factors they cannot capture. Treat the result as a guide.
Does it account for muscle?
No. Like BMI, these height-based formulas cannot distinguish muscle from fat, so a muscular person may exceed the estimate while being healthy.
Is this medical advice?
No. It is a general estimate. Consult a professional for guidance suited to you.
