Estimate your ceiling and your training zones
Maximum heart rate is the fastest your heart is expected to beat, and it anchors the training zones that structure effective exercise. This calculator estimates your maximum from your age and derives personalised zones, fat burn, cardio and peak, so you can train at the intensity a session is meant to target.
Why zones make training deliberate
Different goals need different intensities. Easy, sustainable effort sits in a lower zone; building cardiovascular fitness lives in a middle zone; short, hard intervals push toward the peak. Without zones, "exercise harder" is vague; with them, you can hold an effort in the right band and know a workout is doing what it should. The zones are percentages of your estimated maximum, which is why the maximum has to come first.
An age-based estimate, framed honestly
These are estimates from a standard formula for general information, not medical advice. Individual health depends on far more than any single number, so treat the result as a rough guide and consult a professional for anything that matters. The calculation runs entirely in your browser, so your figures are not uploaded.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is maximum heart rate estimated?
From your age, using an established age-based formula. It is an estimate of a population average; individual maximums vary, so treat it as a starting point.
What are training zones for?
They match intensity to goal: a lower zone for easy sustainable effort, a middle zone for building fitness, and a higher zone for hard intervals. They make training deliberate rather than vague.
Why are the zones percentages of maximum?
Because the right intensity for each goal is defined relative to your ceiling, so the maximum must be estimated first to derive the bands.
How accurate is the estimate?
Age-based formulas give a rough figure; real maximums vary between individuals. A measured maximum from a supervised test is more accurate for serious training.
Is this medical advice?
No. It is a general estimate. Consult a professional before starting intense exercise.
