Rescue an under- or over-exposed photo
Not every photo comes out at the right exposure. A shot taken in low light is too dark to see; one against a bright window is washed out. This tool raises or lowers the brightness of an image so you can rescue detail from the shadows or pull back a blown-out highlight, all in your browser.
What brightness does, and its limit
Adjusting brightness shifts every pixel lighter or darker together. That recovers detail that is present but hard to see, but it cannot invent detail that was never captured: a pure-white blown highlight has no information to recover, and pure-black shadows may have none either. Within those limits, a brightness adjustment is often the single change that makes a photo usable.
Quick edits without an editor
For a fast fix, opening a full photo editor is overkill. Nudging brightness on a slider and exporting the result is enough for most everyday corrections, and doing it in the browser means a personal photo is not uploaded to an online editor. Adjust, preview, and download.

Is this the same as contrast?
