Pull the palette out of an image
Every photograph is a palette waiting to be named. This tool analyses an image and extracts its dominant colours, giving you the hex codes for the palette the picture is built from. That turns an inspiring photo, a brand image or a screenshot into a set of colours you can actually use in a design.
How dominant colours are found
The tool groups the imageβs pixels into clusters of similar colour and reports the ones that occupy the most of the image, which is why the result reflects what the eye reads as the photoβs main colours rather than every incidental pixel. That is the difference between a usable five-colour palette and an unusable list of thousands of near-identical shades.
From inspiration to hex codes
A palette is only useful if you can reproduce it, so the extracted colours come with their hex values ready to paste into a stylesheet, a design tool or a brand document. The analysis runs in your browser, so a client image or a private photo is not uploaded just to read its colours.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does it choose the dominant colours?
It groups similar pixels into clusters and reports the colours that cover the most of the image, so the palette reflects what the eye reads as the main colours.
What form are the colours given in?
As hex codes ready to paste into a stylesheet, design tool or brand document.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The analysis runs in your browser, so a client or private image is not uploaded just to read its colours.
What can I use the palette for?
Building a colour scheme from an inspiring photo, matching a design to a brand image, or documenting the colours in a screenshot.
Why not just pick colours by eye?
Because the eye blends colours and misses the true dominant tones. Clustering the pixels gives the actual main colours with exact hex values.
