Calculate employee Net Promoter Score

The employee Net Promoter Score, or eNPS, measures how likely your employees are to recommend your organisation as a place to work. It is based on a single survey question, usually rated from zero to ten. Respondents are grouped into promoters who score nine or ten, passives who score seven or eight, and detractors who score zero to six. The eNPS is calculated by subtracting the percentage of detractors from the percentage of promoters, producing a score between minus one hundred and one hundred.

This calculator takes the counts of each group and returns the score along with the percentage breakdown.

Using eNPS

eNPS is a simple, fast way to track employee engagement and loyalty over time. A positive score means more promoters than detractors, and higher scores indicate a more engaged, satisfied workforce. Because it comes from one question, it is easy to run regularly and compare across teams and periods, making trends more revealing than any single number.

A score above thirty is often considered strong, while a negative score signals serious dissatisfaction that needs attention. Pair eNPS with follow-up questions to understand the reasons behind the number. All calculation happens locally in your browser.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is eNPS calculated?

Subtract the percentage of detractors, who score zero to six, from the percentage of promoters, who score nine or ten. Passives are counted in the total but not the score.

What is a good eNPS?

Any positive score means more promoters than detractors. Above thirty is often considered strong, while negative scores signal real problems.

Why are passives excluded from the score?

Passives are neutral, so they do not add to or subtract from the score, but they are included in the total when calculating the percentages.

What is the eNPS range?

It ranges from minus one hundred, if everyone is a detractor, to plus one hundred, if everyone is a promoter.

How often should I measure eNPS?

Because it uses one question, it can be run frequently, such as quarterly, so you can track trends and the effect of changes over time.
