Calculate Overall Equipment Effectiveness
Overall Equipment Effectiveness, or OEE, is the gold-standard measure of manufacturing productivity. It combines three factors into a single percentage: availability, the share of scheduled time the equipment is actually running; performance, how fast it runs relative to its maximum speed; and quality, the share of parts produced that meet specification. OEE is the product of the three, so availability of ninety percent, performance of ninety-five percent and quality of ninety-nine percent gives an OEE of about eighty-five percent.
Because the factors are multiplied, a weakness in any one pulls the whole score down.
Improving OEE
OEE shows how much of the truly productive manufacturing time is being used well, exposing the hidden losses from downtime, slow running and defects. An OEE of one hundred percent would mean producing only good parts, as fast as possible, with no stoppages. A score of eighty-five percent is widely regarded as world class, sixty percent as typical, and below forty percent as having significant room for improvement.
Breaking OEE into its three factors points directly to where losses occur: low availability suggests breakdowns and changeovers, low performance suggests minor stops and reduced speed, and low quality suggests defects and rework. All calculation happens locally in your browser.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is OEE?
Overall Equipment Effectiveness is the product of availability, performance and quality, giving a single percentage for manufacturing productivity.
How is OEE calculated?
Multiply the three factors together: availability times performance times quality, each as a percentage, to get the OEE score.
What is a good OEE score?
Eighty-five percent is considered world class, around sixty percent is typical, and below forty percent indicates significant losses to address.
Why multiply the factors?
Because losses compound. A weakness in any factor reduces the overall result, so all three must be strong for a high OEE.
What do the three factors reveal?
Low availability points to downtime, low performance to slow or minor stops, and low quality to defects and rework, guiding improvement.
