Decode ASCII codes back into text

The ASCII Code to Text Converter reads a list of numeric character codes and reconstructs the original text. It accepts decimal, hexadecimal or octal numbers separated by spaces, commas, line breaks or almost any punctuation, so you can paste codes in whatever format you received them. Each valid number is turned into the character at that code point, whether it is a basic ASCII letter or a higher Unicode character such as an accented letter or emoji.

If a value falls outside the valid range for a character, it is skipped and the tool tells you how many entries it ignored, so you can spot a wrong base or a typo quickly.

Programmers decode logged or transmitted character codes to read their contents. Students check the answers to ASCII exercises. Puzzle solvers reveal messages hidden as number sequences. Anyone handed a string of character codes can find out what they spell in a single step.

Make sure the selected base matches how the codes were written: decimal 65, hexadecimal 41 and octal 101 all represent the letter A. This tool is the inverse of a text to ASCII encoder, so codes produced there decode back cleanly. Everything runs locally in your browser.
