Extract the distinct words from any text
The Unique Word Extractor scans your text and produces a deduplicated list of the words it contains. Each word appears only once, and you can optionally show how many times it occurred in the original. This turns a block of prose into a clean vocabulary or keyword list in a single step.
You control how words are grouped. Ignoring case merges "The" and "the" into one entry. A minimum-length filter removes short function words like "a" and "of" so you can focus on meaningful terms. You can sort the result alphabetically or by frequency to surface the most common words first.
Build vocabulary and keyword lists
Language learners extract the unique vocabulary from an article to study. SEO specialists pull the distinct terms from competitor copy. Developers build token or tag lists from sample text. Editors spot an author's favourite words by sorting on frequency.
Words are detected using Unicode-aware matching where supported, so accented and non-Latin scripts are handled, with a safe fallback otherwise. Apostrophes inside words are preserved so contractions stay whole. Everything runs locally in your browser.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it count how many times each word appears?
Yes, if you tick "Show counts". Each unique word is listed with the number of times it occurred in the original text.
How do I ignore common short words?
Raise the minimum length. Setting it to four, for example, drops short function words like "and" and "the" from the list.
Are uppercase and lowercase words merged?
By default yes. With "Ignore case" on, differently-cased versions of the same word are combined into a single entry.
Can I sort by how common each word is?
Yes. Choose "Most frequent" to list the words from most to least common, which highlights an author's key terms.
Does it work with other languages?
Where your browser supports Unicode property matching, accented and non-Latin words are recognised. A Latin-only fallback keeps the tool working everywhere.
