Close the gaps in a list or block
Blank lines pile up in text without anyone adding them on purpose: an export leaves a gap between records, a copy-paste doubles the spacing, a merged file stitches two blocks with empty lines between. This tool deletes the blank lines and closes the list up, so a sparse block becomes a dense one you can actually work with.
Whitespace-only lines count as empty
A line that looks blank might contain a stray space or tab, which fools a naive check that only removes truly empty lines. Treating whitespace-only lines as empty means the tool removes the ones that look blank to you, not just the ones that are technically zero-length, so no ghost lines survive the cleanup.
Keep one gap where you want it
Sometimes the goal is not zero blank lines but tidy ones: collapsing a run of five empty lines down to a single separator rather than removing every gap.
