Count every metric in your text at once
The Text Statistics Counter analyses any text you paste and returns a complete breakdown in real time. It reports word count, character count with and without spaces, sentence count, paragraph count, line count, and estimates for both silent reading time and spoken delivery time.
Reading time is calculated at an average of 200 words per minute, the typical adult silent reading pace, while speaking time uses 130 words per minute, the recommended pace for clear presentations and voice-overs. These estimates help writers, students, speakers and content creators size their work for a target length or time slot.
Who uses a word and character counter
Students checking essay length against an assignment limit, social media managers staying inside character caps, speech writers timing a talk, and SEO writers hitting a target word count all rely on live counters. Because everything runs in your browser, your text is never uploaded, making the tool safe for drafts, confidential documents and personal notes.
Figures update the instant you type or paste, so you can watch the counts change as you edit without pressing a button.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is reading time calculated?
Reading time assumes an average silent reading speed of 200 words per minute. We divide the word count by 200 and show the result in minutes and seconds.
What counts as a word?
A word is any run of non-whitespace characters separated by spaces, tabs or line breaks. This matches how most word processors count words.
Does it count characters with or without spaces?
Both. We show the total character count including spaces and punctuation, and a second figure that excludes all whitespace.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. All counting happens locally in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing you type or paste leaves your device.
How is speaking time estimated?
Speaking time uses 130 words per minute, a comfortable pace for presentations and narration. Your own pace may vary, so treat it as a guide.
