Pick fairly from a list without a spreadsheet
Choosing one or more entries at random from a list is the mechanic behind giveaways, drawing names, sampling data and assigning tasks. Doing it by hand is neither fast nor convincingly fair. This tool takes your pasted list and picks the number of lines you ask for at random, so the selection is genuinely arbitrary rather than whichever one your eye landed on.
One winner or a random sample
Sometimes you want a single winner; sometimes you want a random subset, for example ten reviewers drawn from a pool or a handful of test cases pulled from a large set. Being able to pick several at once, without repeats, turns the tool from a raffle drum into a sampling instrument. Each pick is independent of the order the list was in.
Randomness that stays on your machine
The selection uses your browser’s random number generator and runs entirely in the page, so the list of names, entries or data you paste is never uploaded. That matters when the pool is a customer list or anything you would not post publicly. Paste, choose how many, and pick.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I pick more than one line at a time?
Yes. Choose how many lines to pick and the tool selects that many at random without repeating any of them.
Is the selection actually random?
Yes. It uses your browser’s random number generator, so the pick does not depend on the order of the list or where your attention was.
Will it pick the same line twice?
No. When you pick several, each selected line is distinct, so it works as a fair sample rather than independent draws with replacement.
What is it useful for?
Giveaways, drawing names, assigning tasks, and pulling a random sample of entries or test cases from a larger list.
Is my list uploaded?
No. The picking happens entirely in your browser, so the list stays on your machine.
Privacy & Security
